Heavenly evening at Hever

Pi was proud to be given the opportunity to sponsor one of their favourite charities, International Needs UK (INUK), earlier this month.

An evening of classical Viennese music performed by the Sevenoaks Symphony Orchestra was attended by over 500 people on 21 June 2008 in support of the Charity. Their aim was to raise enough money to build a school for the children of Agortorme, a small rural community in Ghana. To read more about the valuable work that the INUK is involved in, please visit http://www.ineeds.org.uk/

In the beautiful setting of the Walled Gardens at Hever Castle in Kent, the programme of music included such delights as Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’ and many Strauss masterpieces including the Blue Danube Waltz and the Anvil Polka. The orchestra was accompanied by the 100 strong choir of the Sevenoaks Philharmonic Society and was conducted by Darrell Davison.  Fiona Hammacott, soprano, gave some captivating solo performances that included excerpts from Die Fledermaus and Lehar’s Merry Widow and Giuditta operettas.

On a pleasant evening, by the lake and rose gardens of Anne Boleyn’s childhood home, the event was a resounding success with over £15,000 being raised.   The champagne, poured by some of Pi’s own consultancy team, flowed for Gold ticket holders and all expenses of the evening were met by Pi to allow all proceeds to go to INUK.

To recapture the wonderful ambience of the evening, take a look at the video below (you will need the latest Flash Player to see the video).

We look forward to further opportunities to support INUK with their valuable work.
