ETBĀ® and iPad - Perfect Partners
ETB® and iPads - Perfect partners
iPads are fast becoming a new tool for company board meetings and trustee board meetings alike. Board members are keen to ditch the swathes of papers that accompany such meetings and companys are keen to avoid the costs involved in regularly printing and mailing such a bulk of paper. Many feel that iPads or other 'tablets' are an ideal solution, offering the ability to view and annotate documents electronically whilst minimising distribution costs, but a bit more 'friendly' than laptops when used during meetings as it does not obscure eye contact.
The ETB® is an ideal platform for accessing papers via an iPad as it is web-based, all documents held are naturally loaded as pdf documents (now pretty standard for viewing documents on the web) and the technology behind the ETB® is designed to work universally across all systems. One of the iPad's main functions is to support easy browsing of the internet and it works with 'apps' rather than having more standard Microsoft software loaded to the device. However, there are a few other key things to think about, such as:
- How are you going to load your meeting papers so that they can be viewed easily and printed off if necessary?
- What is the best application that will allow board members to annotate documents?
- How will board members cope with the technology?
- What are the security issues relating to the storage of information outside the ETBs® secure environment?
- What is the policy for document storage on the iPad and how can it be enforced?
So while ETB® and iPads could be viewed as perfect partners, as always, there is a little work to be done!
