Before establishing Pi Consulting in 2000, Julia worked as a management consultant with IBM, specifically with clients who were installing new computer systems and processes. This involved working to very tight deadlines and budget constraints, as well as understanding the client's needs. Following a career break to raise children Julia joined Mercer in 1994, with responsibilities including operational and project management of large projects and initiatives.  This included the launch of new trustee training courses; the establishment of an entirely new tendering process; co-ordination and establishment of client conferences and seminars.

Specialist subjects

Julia has specific responsibility for Pi Consulting’s pensions administration evaluation process, project management of transition and change, and the Secretariat service.

Julia is a member of the Institute of Directors, holder of the Pensions Management Institute Certificate of Trusteeship and has completed the Regulator's Trustee Toolkit. For a number of years Julia has worked on the Raising Standards of Pension Administration initiative, which has now become the Pensions Administration Standards Association.
