Raising standards & understanding

With the introduction of Trustee Knowledge and Understanding (TKU), effective trustee training - scheme specifics, pensions generally and other matters as prescribed from time to time - has never been more high profile.  Having regard to this and the need for trustees to be "conversant", Pi's philosophy in respect of training is simple:

Training should be targeted to deal with real issues and considerations

We believe that training should be tailored to the individual needs and requirements of individual trustee bodies and (wherever possible) make use of the services of the advisers who have familiarity with the circumstances of each scheme.  However, constructing an effective learning environment for trustees, who inevitably have different levels of knowledge and experience, requires the help of someone expert in this field.

Project Example - Steeple

In this case the employer appointed a new trustee and asked Pi Consulting to undertake a basic induction session with them.   A scheme specific induction pack, outlining the training, was e-mailed to the employee the week before an agreed fixed time for training session.  The session involved the identification of the trainee's level of understanding of work based pensions, working through gaps in the trainee's pensions knowledge and introducing the trainee to scheme specific trustee documents and access to these documents through the Electronic Trustee Bible®.

Training does not have to be in a classroom environment and in many cases such training is not possible.  In the above case the employee was not based in the UK and the training was handled via teleconference.
